Can I just say that I completely adore Molly?
Seriously, I want to cuddle her and give her tea and tell her that it’s going to be okay. She might presented rather pathetically, but I think there’s plenty to love about her and plenty to suggest that there’s a lot more to her than we see in series one.
She’s obviously, intellectually at least, very smart. She’s a pathologist, yes? (I’m actually not certain if this is her exact job, someone please correct me if I’m wrong.) I’d hazard a guess that she’s a clinical pathologist, which according to Wikipedia requires a medical residency. This woman is a highly qualified specialist, she’s not an intellectual pushover.
She has a horribly unrequited crush on a man who, frankly, treats her like crap. I mean, I love Sherlock, I do, but he treats Molly so badly. He blatantly manipulates her for his own ends, makes personal remarks, tells her her boyfriend is gay. Yes, okay, said boyfriend turns out to be a criminal mastermind (as well as gay, don’t lie to me Jim), but that’s not the point. The point is that dear Molly has the sexuality of her new boyfriend pointed out to her extremely unpleasantly by the guy she’s had a crush on. [Also, yes, there are arguments to be made about Sherlock’s level of social awareness, and whether he actually meant to be cruel, but whatever, this post is about Molly, not Sherlock.]
And she does react. In the first episode and a half, she does rather let Sherlock walk all over her, but come one, girl has a crush. I’ve done things I’m not too proud of in the name of a crush. But in The Great Game, she does get angry at Sherlock, she doesn’t just let him talk at her. Yes, she runs away, but I still think that’s fair enough. Sherlock is not an easy person to deal with, and she must have a ridiculous amount of conflicting feelings in that moment, given her past feelings for Sherlock, her feelings for Jim, and what Sherlock’s just said.
Oh, Molly. I’m so pleased she’s back for series two, I can’t wait to see how they’re going to deal with the fallout from The Great Game regarding Molly’s relationship with Jim. I really hope they do deal with it, and not just brush it aside.

And she is not-so-secretly very pretty.
SO, PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THIS EXACTLY.
